If you haven't, you gotta play Uncharted 2: Among Thieves!! You get to play Drake, a brave, handsome tough bloke (think Lara Croft with wayyyy more sex appeal) who treks around various mystical places around the world fighting enemies, collecting treasures, and solving the mystery of Marco Polo.

Today, we made a joke about this restaurant being so quiet and sells food at such a low price and yet still survive, and then we recalled Jian Yi's favourite comment in these situations: 'hehe, confirm money laundering....' Haha!!

Day after day I still mull over what happened, but I guess life's busyness have made me move along faster... get on with things instead of feeling depressed over the incident all the time, and I've my supportive LGZ to help me out..

Miss him but I guess memories will have to do for now till we meet again.

So... I got this new wallet a few weeks back, but didn't have the mood to post it up... So in love with it, off-white, zips, plenty of room for cards... can't ask for anything better. It's from Mimco, and it's a little larger than a regular wallet but I ain't complaining. We girls have large handbags for a reason, lol.

Finally ate a proper meal at Mocha Joe's; we normally just go for their coffee, which is really good, and one random afternoon we decided to eat there. My salmon fritters. Damn nice. Except that it's rather hard to eat it neatly, since it's stacked and it tend to fall off... too much avocado for me as well.. XD

Sometime last week, it was sunny and nice so Lgz and I went to the local reserve where we run sometimes to have a drink on the grass... =) there're cute little wild yellow flowers and plenty of bees. So we just sat quietly and talked and watch the clouds. Uber chillax.

I'm squinting cos the sun was bright.

Random heart-shaped chicken snitzel we bought to make parmagiana.. but we forgot the bacon so we used turkey breast. lol. Turned out delicious anyway so it's alright.

Went to the usual Taiwanese restaurant earlier for dinner, and then I wanted to try something new, and ordered Steamed Meatballs, expecting a typical chinese dish of steamed mince-meat or like, packed meat, in some soy sauce, and this is what turned up:

The guys at the next table ordered it too and they kept saying it's like silicon breasts implants. -___-. I ended up eating the meat that's filling inside, which was what I thought was being served, without the 'silicon'. Not too sure where's the 'ball' part in the 'Meatball' but it's damn weird la. -__- So much for trying something new.

And my favourite jumper he got from Topman online, since this country doesn't have all the good brands... lol

During this entire week I was in the 24 hr comp lab doing this research assignment till around 1am every day, for every spare hour of my day. It was Class, Work, Assignment in the 15 hours I was on campus. -____- till yesterday we finalised everything at 3am. And I crashed till 2pm today when Lgz woke me up with lunch. Or else who knows when I'd actually wake up.. lol..

So went Moorabin DFO to browse a bit, Lgz obsessed with running gear, I got myself some jeans and socks, nothing much to yell out about. Gonna go Knox City Sunday to browse for more Spring stuff, though judging the weather yesterday I'd say winter hit Melbourne again -___-.

Time to bring out the hot pot... Hahaha..! And the camera. I realise I haven't really taken any pictures in a looong time. Meaning I haven't socialised or done anything interesting in a looong time. Shit.

Losses

It's been a tough week for me... In just two days, I lost two acquaintances.

Choo Jian Yi, and Loh Teik Eng.

Jian Yi was hit by a car, and passed away two days later due to serious head injuries.

Teik Eng suffered a ruptured aorta.

Being overseas, away from the news, information, friends and family, I had trouble dealing with the news, and even more trouble believing it and accepting it. There are no newspaper articles, no visual aid, no confirmation of anything; noone knows the true story, nothing concrete.

I felt so helpless, so lost, and so miserable. Especially when Jian Yi's passing has to be communicated to me via SMS. If our mutual friends never told us, I would have never found out until God knows when.

I have to admit, I took Jian Yi's death very badly. I consider us very close friends; we chatted almost every night on MSN, and before you scoff and say what kind of a friendship is that, being in different continents, I would say that brought us closer than ever, and I can't say the same of other friends who claim to be closer to me but yet fail to communicate more frequently with me. Of course this goes both ways, and I am glad that Jian Yi has always been there when I needed a sympathetic ear.

He was so funny, so full of life, and so very selfless. This all sounds very cliché, but I honestly cannot say that of everyone I know. Aside from my closest friends, I truly am touched by him. He strived to make his friends laugh, make his friends happy, put a smile on everyone faces, even though the jokes are on his expense... He frequently brought me Pokka coffee when I was struggling to complete my assignments during late nights in uni. He stalked this guy I thought was goodlooking just so he could get me his name. He drove all the way to Pavillion just cos I had to take the LRT home and he thought it was dangerous, despite his car breaking down he managed to get me home safely.

And to think that I cannot see him anymore forever, that I could not attend his funeral, could not see him one last time... and the last time I saw him was in January when we went for shabu-shabu in Puchong.

I have a very heavy feeling in my heart that I do not know how to get rid of. Thanks to Robert and Aqel, I am able to learn of some incidents relating to his demise. Thanks to his family, strange as it seems, I am able to witness some moments of his funeral on facebook. Thanks to Kingsley, who held a mini wake for him in his backyard, I am able to grasp the reality.

I hope I get the closure I need in order to move on.

And may all of you out there please stay safe.

Little things for everyday happiness~

Well... just some random things in my everyday life that makes me smile.

My super old file, had this since my high school days, it was a normal ring file, the front was a Levi's jeans ad from this super old Galaxy magazine in its early heydays, waaaay before it revamped into some glossy, smaller, stapled form. It used to be super big, and only folded in half for the greatest posters in the newsstand. Now... it's lost its appeal for conforming to the glossy 4x fold magazines and have sucky posters ever since it tried to look like Lime or whatever entertainment magazine that's 'in'.

As it has served me for ...ever... haha... and I've tried my best to keep it in a good condition but, a file is a file, and cardboard is cardboard, I was sad to see its ring file gave way due to rust, wear and tear. Hence, it's new replacement. As I couldn't find a magazine ad that could cover the normal files, I resorted to a smaller file with better convenience of decorating with ads on hand. :)

Sucky point is it has that studs at the back which I couldn't conceal like I could the old file cos this one's a slot-in. Sob. Look at that hideous white gap ruining my file's aesthetic quality.

Plus is I can change the ads as much as I want. And I've done the insides too! Love the blue bikini. Super super hot. The Tommy watch ad migrated from the old file :)

On a plus side, I revamped the Monash (ugly) organiser into something HOT!! I love it so much I don't know what I'd do when 2009 is over. I should reuse it for 2010's organiser.... hahaha. J'adore sticker was from Sportsgirl, donated by Cheam. Hahaha. Pretty fitting as well, as I totally 'J'adore' the cover now. :)))))

Did this on a whim @ Knox while waiting for LGZ's shift to end.. nails are a little short, but was impatient and been wanting to try it for awhile. Was fun a day or two but then it chipped and was hard to maintain and well, not very eye catching either (not sure if this is a good thing or not) as I normally like loud, striking nails. Hehs. Still pleasant.

Haha, I saw this and I laughed my fcking ass off. Well, I didn't really laugh that hard but it brought a good few chuckles :)

And this really beautiful rainbow in the midst of an uber gloomy rainy day.
I particularly love how it looks like we're driving towards one end of the rainbow. :)

LGZ got me new sheets. LOL. How funny that he did something domestic but he's a great caring LGZ hehehe so now it's new and crispy and it has different patterns on both sides, striped on one, and plaid on the other. So I can flip it over to the other side for a 'fresh' look. HAHA. :)

Gorilla looks super comfy hahaha.

Did hot pot at home last week too... was LGZ's great idea.. thanks for lending us the equipment :)

Rants and Adelaide.

Back to update a few things as usual~~

Uni started since my last post, schedule seems alright, couple of hours each day for four days a week, so plenty of free time, same goes to work.

Had hot pot at Suz's place last Tues, dinner + meeting for work, super awesome dinner, stuffed myself silly and ate all the chili padi Suz prepared. We all looked like we were a few months pregnant after dinner lol. Between 6 girls we sure ate like we were starved for a week... lol. Pics are with Selina, she has yet to send to us =.= so..

Other than that, met Tracy in one of my classes, super glad she was in the class with me cos it was like 90% Chinese and it's like 0 communication 0 participation from everyone etc. My lecturer is an Indian-looking man named Dr De Martinez -- must be of mixed parentage or something -- and during the roll he called me 'Sui Lin'.

Total shocker. What kind of an Australian DOCTOR pronounces 'SUE' as 'SUI'?

And he pronounced Tracy's surname 'TOO' as 'TOH'.

He must be getting really creative with Asian names, giving them a real fancy twist when he didn't need to. lol.

Anyways.. we were up for a 'debate' two weeks from now, and our 'opponents' approached us to work out the details for the presentation, and started rambling away in Manderin. So I said Tracy can't speak the language, please use English. They glanced at her, then at me, then continued in Manderin.

I stopped them, and joked, 'Hey, we're in Melbourne, let's use English okay?'

They seemed ticked off but whatever. Totally disrespectful especially after I already told them Tracy doesn't speak Manderin and they just disregarded that. Wtf mannnn.

It happens all the time work as well, since like 70% of our customers are Chinese, it becomes part of the job to know Manderin and converse with them in Manderin and conduct sales in Manderin. I had to learn the technical terms of everything in Manderin, and to the extent of troubleshooting their computer (we have broadband services) when it's all in Chinese characters by looking at pictures and icons. -____-

So one day, Sylvia, my Indonesian colleague had some Taiwanese customers and they were upset that she couldn't speak Manderin, and wanted another salesperson to serve them, but we didn't want that sort of discrimination and putting Sylvia at a disadvantage, so we insist that they use English.

Hello, you guys are in Australia after all, if you don't wanna learn the language speak the language, what's the point??

So anyway they didn't get very far with Sylvia, showing faces and being all upset and shit, so in the end I had to intervene before anyone walks away angrily and translate everything for Sylvia.

Anyway, picture time!!! Adelaide was really great, it was a nice, quiet, slow town but nonetheless it was perfect for a holiday. No rushing here and there like we did in Sydney, trying to pack all the activities into 3 days, etc. Nice relaxing pace and we saw what we needed in the 3 days we were there.

Many thanks to Min Lip who picked us up from the airport, and had dinner with us one day, and Shou Ren for showing us around the rest of Adelaide. :)

Balloons at work.. Was rearranging the storeroom which is insanely overcrowded and overpacked and overloaded and everything.. and realised that we've tons of balloons so I blew some up just for fun and I thought they look really, really cute. Haha.

Grr.... Firefox kept hanging when I blogged so this is my third attempt. Annoying. I'd use chrome but then it doesn't support some features Xanga has so... Sigh.

Anyways I was being happy about exams being over, yesterday was my last paper so it's holidays for me now..!!

Planned a to-do list for this short hols, besides work, gonna clear out my wardrobe, make space, getting it organised and stuff; plan some short day trips to spend time with Rin and all; go shopping for loved ones back home :)

Today I took LGZ to Mart 130 for brekkie, or, lunch, more like, lol, as he's never been there and with it being so reputated can't hurt to go once more for me =)

Wil and Sharon heading back next week too, so house's gonna be a little quiet what with Sam moving out too. Sigh~~ gonna be a peaceful winter for me and Rin hahaha..!

On a random note:

Attempted to cook pasta from scratch, had a little trouble when it came to the sauce, haha I thought I burnt it when it got all thick and starchy and something was wrong but apparently I had to keep adding milk (Rin came along and saved my dinner) and it turned out fine. Lack of taste due to no herbs at home haha (Rin donated some bay leaves and such) but otherwise I thought it was okay. Lol. Shoulda grocery shopped beforehand but heh, it was edible.

Not very yummy looking, seafood pasta in white sauce.

Random pancake parlour outing, I've a thing for pancakes, yes, so this is an outlet I frequently visit :) pancakes are yummy. xD So if you've any buy 1 free 1 short stack vouchers you don't use, pass them this way, please. Haha.
